Convention Updates

At every convention, Close to My Heart invites someone to speak to us as our Keynote Speaker. This year we were thrilled and humbled to hear Stacy Julian speak.

Stacy is the founder of Big Picture Scrapbooking, as well as the editor of the now defunct Simple Scrapbooks Magazine, and so much more. She is a Big Deal in the scrapbooking world! She also used to be a consultant for CTMH, back when our company was called DOTS (Dozens of Terrific Stamps). That's what thrilled us so much; not only is Stacy a leader in our industry, she is also intimately familiar with OUR company, CTMH.

Stacy's message is a simple one: Be present in your life. Scrapbook your LIFE, your PEOPLE, not events. Not to use every cute little sticker that you found. Your scrapbooks should tell a story to whoever reads them. You don't have to document every EVENT with all those photos you've taken. It's okay to NOT put them in your album. But document your FEELINGS, your HOPES and DREAMS, and be PRESENT in your life as it is right now. (Yes, we were all crying!)

“My message is that time moves so very fast and most of the time we do too. But, we can choose (with practice) to slow down and to savor simple everyday moments. We can pull out our cameras and take pictures and we can live with these pictures and let them work magical things inside of us. Doing so will make us more grateful, more content, more aware and more happy. There is so much that is overwhelming and challenging in life. Efforts to capture and  share your memories should be neither."

Lovin' Studio J

Our CTMH convention is just a month away and as part of the registration, we got to complete 5 Studio J layouts. There were complete instructions that made learning new things so easy. I use Studio J for all of my personal scrapbooking. I enjoy the ease of uploading my pictures and making super cute layouts in a jiffy. I can also print more copies if I choose AND I can store my jpeg files in case anything would every happen to my scrapbooks. Many have experienced the heartbreak of a flood, fire or other disaster that could erase all those memoires. Storing the files on a disk just ensures that you could recreate all those priceless memories.
